One of the reasons, why you should visit Mriborsko Pohorje is, that you can enjoy in a beautiful view from many different spots and peaks. In summer month and also in late spring or early autumn, when yellow and red leaves rustle under your feet, this mountain range with beautiful forests attracts many hikers. Experienced mountaineers visit Pohorje to make a real tour in only one day. Hours of walking are beautified by forest clearings, where you can see livestock (you will see sheep, cattle and horses), unspoiled forests and visits of hunting lodges. You can also find waterfalls, swamps, lakes, churches and a real jungle by the waterfall Veliki Šumnik.

Pohorje has an average altitude somewhere between 1000 and 1500 meters above sea level. This means that temperatures are not too low, but snow covers the area more time in the colder months. Even though forests of Pohorje hide many maintained footpaths, some hikers take their way straight through forest, regardless of signs and marks. It is hard to get lost, as the distances between places are not so big, and there are many smaller populated areas in the forests. There are also several lodges, built by hunting parties and hiking and skiing lovers. Especially Mariborsko Pohorje and western side, Rogla, have a lot of them.
It is said that Pohorje is a real sports arena, as it enables you recreational running, mountain biking, hiking, adrenaline sledding and many other activities. Many visitors come to enjoy fresh mountain air, which is very good for your feeling in some areas. Mariborsko Pohorje, between Bolfenk and Areh, hosts crowds of skiers in winter, but in dry days, when snow is gone, this area is visited by hikers. Some of them come to enjoy photography, other to gain condition for more difficult tours in the Alps. Also active athletes from nearby Maribor are regular visitors.
In summer months, Pohorje attracts visitors also with delicious cuisine and tidy hotels. The Habakuk hotel at the foothills of Pohorje offers the best standard, and the visitors love to stay in their spa resort. Here is also starting point of the Pohorje funicular, which leads to the hotel Bellevue with a modern wellness center, Finnish and Turkish sauna, ice cave, showers of surprise, herbal bath and many other interesting features. The Bolfenk hotel with swimming pool and sauna is only some ten meters away. You can also spend a couple of nights in a nearby Indian village. Pohorje is attractive in any season of the year, and summers are really special. It is not too hot, and definitely not too cold.
