Pohorje

Pohorje is located at the eastern edge of the Alps, bordering on Pannonian basin. On the northern and western side is bordered with the river Drava, and on the other side with the river Savinja. On the eastern end, where Pohorje ends in viniferous hills, is located the second biggest Slovenian city Maribor. Slovenske Konjice, Zre?e and modern city Celje are situated on the southern side of Pohorje.
Pohorje offers economic development and investment in tourism to all nearby towns. Touristic offer is getting bigger and bigger, so the number of guests is increasing every year.

Most peaks are higher than 1300 meters above sea level, the most known Rogla is even higher than 1500 meters, but there are also some higher mountains. Pohorje is easily accessible for visitors, as there are many footpaths and asphalted roads. Also Pohorje funicular drives from Maribor to Bolfenk. It transports many hikers, recreatives, sportsmen, mountain bikers and other mountain lovers every day. The lower station is accessible with car or city bus, and the higher also with car. Some hotels at the top of the funicular have combined offer with hotels in the valley or other possibilities in the city Maribor. When you arrive at Pohorje, you have an opportunity to go sky diving, adrenaline sledding or visit an adrenaline park.

Pohorje is known for a number of swamps and marshes. The most known are around Glažuta, ?rno jezero and Ribniško jezero. About 50 kilometers long and 25 kilometers wide mountain chain has a rich offer of foothpaths for hikers or lovers of Nordic walking. Mountain biking is possible throughout all Pohorje, as it has many suitable roads. In the winter months, Pohorje remains covered with snow longer than lower areas, and besides that, many ski slopes are artificially snowed. There are many ski slopes, sleding tracks and maintained tracks for cross country skiing. It is also taken care of different difficulty categories of ski tracks and comfortable transportation back to the top with different ski lifts.
Pohorje has more and more hotels, suites and touristic farms. Different classes of accommodation attract guests of different ages and interests from all over the world.
